چکیده

Abstract Background Taxus cuspidata S. et Z. is a precious species of frigid zone plant belonging to the Taxaceae family, which possesses anticancer, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic, and antibacterial pharmacological properties. While taxane extracted from chinensis has been reported elicit antioxidant activities, whether skin-protective actions against injuries remained unknown. This study aims explore effects three extracts on skin melanin deposition, oxidation, inflammation, allergy so as provide new ideas for prevention treatment various diseases related damage. Methods Skin deposition was evaluated by measuring content in guinea pigs alkali lysis method. Antioxidant capacity superoxide dismutase (SOD) concentration glutathione (GSH) tissue homogenates Kunming mice SOD assay kit micro reduced GSH kit. The quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) western blotting were used examine levels both recombinant peroxidase 4 (GPX4). inflammation xylene-induced ear swelling test egg-white-induced paw mice. In mouse model induced 4-aminopyridine (4-AP), determined licking body counts histamine concentrations using enzyme-linked immunosorbent (ELISA) kits. Two proinflammatory factors tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α interleukin (IL)-1β measured qRT-PCR. Hematoxylin eosin (HE) staining conducted assess degree lesion. Results All including essential oil, extract compound deposits back relative non-treated control animals, oil produced greatest effect. contrast, elevated tissues, highest increase seen with oil. Three extracts, especially effectively reduce rate swelling. number licks, TNF-α IL-1β, alleviated Consistently, yielded magnitude decreases. Conclusion all possessed anti-skin properties, superior effects.

Taxus cuspidata (Japanese yew) pollen nasal allergy.

We have investigated the Taxus cuspidata pollinosis that has never been studied before. We applied immunoblotting method in order to detect specific IgE antibody against T. cuspidata using its pollen itself. Out of 18 patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis suffering mainly in April and May, 5 patients were sensitized with this pollen. Furthermore, we were able to diagnose one case as T. cuspi...

Comparison of Skin Erythema and Melanin Level in Sulfur Mustard Induced Chronic Skin Lesions and Normal Skin

Background: Sulfur mustard gas is a chemical agent that has been used in many wars, especially in Iran-Iraq war. This chemical agent affects many organs including lungs, eyes and skin, causing numerous acute and chronic lesions including erythema and hyperpigmentation, respectively. This study was conducted to evaluate erythema and melanin in subjects with a history of exposure to sulfur ...

Oxidation causes melanin fluorescence.

PURPOSE The goal of this study is the characterization of the strong yellow fluorescence of oxidized melanin in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and the choroid. METHODS Naturally occurring melanin in the human retina and choroid was oxidized by exposing fixed and plastic-embedded sections of a human eye to light and hydrogen peroxide. Synthetic melanin was also oxidized in vitro by expos...

Humanized tissue pharmacodynamics of cefazolin against commonly isolated pathogens in skin and skin structure infections.

OBJECTIVES The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of humanized cefazolin tissue concentrations against methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) and Enterobacteriaceae in an in vitro pharmacodynamic model. METHODS Nine clinical isolates [five MSSA (cefazolin MIC range 0.5-2.0 mg/L), two Escherichia coli (cefazolin MICs 1.0 and 2.0 mg/L) and two Klebsiella pneumoniae...
